Sheryl Denise Swoopes is a retired American professional basketball player. She was WNBA's first signed player and is a three-time WNBA MVP. She was named one of the league's Top 15 Players of All Time during the 2011 WNBA All-Star Game. Swoopes also won three Olympic gold medals. She was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016 and was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017.

Swoopes became WNBA's second player in history to win both the All-Star Game MVP and the regular season MVP award. She was also WNBA history's first player to record a triple-double that happened during the playoffs and the regular season.

Swoopes became nationally prominent after winning the gold medal with the United States Basketball Women's National Team during the Olympics Games in the year 1996. That became her focal point to join the WNBA. The Olympic win over Brazil last 1996 is what people considered to be the best women's basketball game people have ever seen. She became a three-time Olympic gold medalist for the year 1996, 2000 and 2004.

Swoopes is the first lady basketball player to have a Nike shoe with her name. It was called "Air Swoopes." Her current net worth is around $200 Thousand.
