Sheryl Denise Swoopes is a retired American professional basketball player. She was WNBA’s first signed player and is a three-time WNBA MVP. She was named one of the league’s Top 15 Players of All Time during the 2011 WNBA All-Star Game. Swoopes also won three Olympic gold medals. She was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016 and was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2017.
Swoopes became WNBA’s second player in history to win both the All-Star Game MVP and the regular season MVP award. She was also WNBA history’s first player to record a triple-double that happened during the playoffs and the regular season.
