Rod Strickland is a retired American professional basketball player and assistant basketball coach with an estimated net worth of $32 million.

Rod Strickland joined the youth program, New York Gauchos. During his junior year, he played for the Truman High School basketball team. After a year, he transferred to Oak Hill Academy.

He appeared in 87 games with the DePaul Blue Demons men's basketball team. Strickland was a two-time All-American which he helped the team to appear in NCAA Tournament from 1985 to 1988.

Upon entering the 1988 NBA Draft, Strickland was chosen as the first round, 19th overall pick by the New York Knicks. He spent time playing with other teams such as San Antonio Spurs, Portland Trail Blazers, Washington Wizards, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, Orlando Magic, Toronto Raptors, and Houston Rockets.

During his 17-year stint in the league, he played in 1,094 games, scored 14,463 points and dished out 7,987 assists. Strickland ended his career in 2005.

Rodney Strickland was born on July 11, 1966 in Bronx, New York.  Life after retirement, he started his coaching career when he was the director of basketball operation for University of Memphis. He served as a special assistant to the head coach for John Calipari at University of Kentucky from 2009 to 2014. He was hired as assistant coach for the South Florida Bulls' men's basketball team in 2014.
