Michael Olowokandi has an estimated net worth of $20 million. The 7-foot basketball star is the son of a Nigerial diplomat who was born in Lagos Nigeria but spent most of his early years in north London. He attended the Newlands Manor School in Seaford, East Sussex and Brunel University. While at Brunel, he an athlete in track and field, cricket, and rugby union, and began playing basketball when he was 18.
After he moved to America, he enrolled at the University of the Pacific in 1995. He then led his team to the 1997 NCAA Tournament and the 1998 National Invitation Tournament. Los Angeles Clippers signed him on a three-year contract but he played with the team for five seasons. He was actually selected as the first overall pick of the Los Angeles Clippers for the 1998 NBA Draft. The 36-year-old signed endorsement deals with Nike and AT&T Wireless. He later moved to the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2003 on a four-year deal. Before his retirement, Michael Olowokandi joined Boston Celtics in 2006 as a result of a multi-player trade.
