While studying at the University of Alabama, he was selected as the 24th overall pick of the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the 1992 NBA Draft. He actually played 13 seasons of the NBA. On his debut year with the Golden State Warriors, he earned an annual income of $550,000. From 1992-93 to 1997-98 season, he earned not less than $500,000 as annual salary. In fact, in 1995, he signed a 4-year, $32 million contract with the team. In 1999, he agreed on a 5-year, $62 million deal with the New York Knicks.
During his career, he has endorsed several products which include Converse ( $500,000-$700,000 ), Dada and Andl ($1 million). Sprewell's career unexpectedly ended in 2005 when he refused to sign a three-year $21 million contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves. He claimed that $21 million wasn't enough to feed his children. Not long after, his two homes were reported to be foreclosed and he was prohibited from seeing his kids. Sprewell has an estimated net worth of $50 thousand.
