DeMarcus Cousins began his basketball career when he played for LeFlore Magnet High School's team. Then, he committed to play for Kentucky Wildcats from 2009 up to 2010.

He entered the 2010 NBA Draft after he forgo his final three seasons of collegiate eligibility.  Cousins was selected by Sacramento Kings and signed up for a two-year contract.
