Conrad Kalitta was born on February 24, 1938 in Michigan, United States. Growing up in Mount Clemens, Michigan, Kalitta finished his high school from Mount Clemens High School. Conrad has a son named Scott who died in a crash in 2008.

Connie Kalitta raced from the 1950's through the 1990's. During the prime of his racing career, he was known as the "The Bounty Hunter." In 1992, he was elected into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America.
