Rich Franklin is an American mixed martial artist which has an estimated net worth of $3.5 million.

Rich Franklin learned how to karate in the early 1990s at the Harrison Okinawan Karate Dojo. Then, he learned on how to do submission by watching instructional video tapes.

He started his UFC career in 2002 when he defeated Evan Tanner via TKO in UFC 42. Franklin's stamina made him a dominant middleweight fighter. He is a two-time UFC Middleweight Champion.

Franklin lost his title against Anderson Silva during the UFC 64 on October 14, 2006. He switched from middleweight to light heavyweight division during the UFC 88 when he fought against Mark Hamill via TKO.

Eventually, Franklin returned to the middleweight division in UFC on Fuel TV 6 where he lost to Cung Le. After the said fight, he decided to took a semi-retirement from fighting.

Richard Jay Franklin was born on October 5, 1974 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He earned his degree in mathematics and a masteral degree in education at the University of Cincinnati. Before entering his career as a mixed martial artist, he taught mathematics at the Oak Hills High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is married to Beth, a former English teacher.
