Jake Shields is an American professional mixed martial artist who has an estimated net worth of $620 thousand.

Jake Shields began amateur wrestling at age 9. At the beginning of his early career as a wrestler, he competed in over 601 matches for folk, freestyle and submission bouts. He was a four-year varsity wrestler for Calaveras High School and placed 2nd during the Amateur Athletic Union National Freestyle Championships.

In 1999, he started his MMA training under Chuck Liddell's SLO Kickboxing Academy. Two years later, Shields received a wrestling scholarship from San Francisco State University. He was a three-time Grapplers Quest Advance Champion, Pan American Championships Jiu Jitsu Champion, Pan Am Open Advance Submission Champion,  and Gracie Open Superfight Champion. In 2005, he finished 3rd place during the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship.

Shields participated in several fights and won the Middleweight Championship at Strikeforce. He made his debut at UFC in a match against Martin Kampmann in UFC 121. He fought several fighters such as Hector Lombardi, Demian Maia, and Ed Herman, among others. On April 6, 2014, he was released from the promotion. He signed a multi-fight deal with World Series of Fighting.
