About Mick Doohan
Mick Doohan is a former Australian Grand Prix motorcycle road racing World Champion. He has an estimated net worth of $5 million that he gained after winning five consecutive 500 cc World Championships. Only Giacomo Agostini with eight (seven consecutive) and Valentino Rossi with seven (five consecutive) have won more premiere class titles. Born Michael Doohan on June 4, 1965 in Brisbane, Australia, he attended St. Joseph’s College. He raced in the Australian Superbike circuit in the late 1980s and has won both races as Superbike World Championships. In 1989, he began racing on the Grand Prix circuit for Honda and it was an instant success.
In 1992, Doohan had a severe crash that put him out of serious contention for almost two years. It required the retrofitting of his bike as he no longer had adequate use of his body parts. When his health returned, he finished first of second at just about every race on the circuit from 1994 to 1998. However, he crashed again in 1999 and his previously injured leg was seriously damaged again. He chose to retire but continued to work as an advisor for Honda until 2004. In April 1998, he got a chance to test a Formula One race car, the Williams FW19, at the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain. He found it hard to drive the car and crashed against a guard rail.
