Thomas Vanek is an Austrian professional ice hockey player with an estimated net worth $48.2 million.

Thomas Vanek started off his career when he joined the United States Hockey League's Sioux Falls Stampede junior hockey team. After his stint with the team, he was selected to play for University of Minnesota Golden Gophers.

He was named MVP during the Frozen Four tournament. Before Vanek became into a professional hockey player, he was a member of the Austrian national team in 2004. He spent the 2004-2005 season with the Rochester Americans.

After a season at AHL, Vanek signed a three-year contract with Buffalo Sabres in 2004. He earned the NHL Plus/Minus Award during the 2006-2006 season. Meanwhile, during the 2012-2013 NHL lockout, he played for the Graz 99ers in Austria. He hailed as Sabres' captain on October 1, 2013, along with Steve Ott.

Vanek was traded to the New York Islanders on October 2013. After his four-month stint with the team, he decided to turn down a contract extension and transferred to the Montreal Canadiens instead on March 2014. Upon leaving the Canadiens as an unrestricted free agent, he signed a three-year contract with the Minnesota Wild on July 1, 2014.

Thomas Vanek was born on January 19, 1984 in Baden bei Wien, Austria. He has three sons with his wife, Ashley.
