Teemu Selanne is a Finnish ice hockey player which has an estimated net worth of $35 million.
Teemu Selanne began his passion in playing hockey when he was young, along with his brother. He started playing for the Jokerit's developmental program in 1987, and led the team in winning the Finnish Junior A championship. He represented Finland in several international tournament and Olympics.
He landed a spot as first round pick during the 1988 NHL Entry Draft for the Winnipeg Jets, but eventually played with the team when they defeated Detroid Red Wings on October 6, 1992.
Selanne was traded to Anaheim Ducks on February 6, 1996. During his stint with the team, he was named First All-Star Team and 1997 All-Star Game's most valuable player. He was the first honoree of Maurice "Rocket" Richard trophy in 1998-1999 season. On March 5, 2001, the Ducks traded to San Jose Sharks, in exchange to Jeff Friesen and Steve Shields.
He signed a one-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche during the 2003-04 season. Selanne struggled througout the year with knee problems which requires him to undergo a surgery. In 2005, he returned to Anaheim Ducks with one-year contract with the team. He was the recipient of Bill Masterson Memorial Trophy in 2006.
Selanne led the Ducks in winning the Stanley Cup during the 2006-2007 season. He played with his final regular season game with the team on April 13, 2014.
Teemu Ilmari Selänne was born on July 3, 1970 in Helsinki, Finland. He attended business school for two years and served for one year in the mandatory military service for Finnish Defence Forces. He is married to Sirpa and has four children.
