Taylor Hall started playing ice hockey with his hometown, Calgary. In 2007, he was chosen by the Windsor Spitfires during the 2007 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.

While with the Spitfires, he was selected to represent OHL in the ADT Canada-Russia Challenge. Hall was hailed as the recipient of Wayne Gretzky 99 Award in 2009.
