Pavol Demitra is a Slovak professional ice hockey player for Vancouver Canucks worth approximately $4 million.

Pavol Demitra started his career when he joined ZTS Dubnica in 1991. He moved to Czechoslovak Extraliga's HC Dukla Trenčín in 1992–93. After his stint with the team, he was drafted by the Ottawa Senators during the 1993 NHL Entry Draft.

He stayed with the Senators in 1995 as Demitra was traded by the team to St. Louis Blues. During his stint with the Blues, he set his career high with 93 points for the 2002-2003 season.

During the 2004-2005 NHL lockout, he returned to play for the HC Dukla Trenčín. Upon returning to the U.S., Demitra sealed the deal playing for a three-year contract with the Los Angeles Kings in 2005. Injuries prevented him to play for 24 games during the season, he finished third in team scoring with 25 goals and 62 points.

Demitra was traded by the Kings to the Minnesota Wild during the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.  He was named captain of the team for the month of October 2007.

When he became an unrestricted free agent, he signed a contract with the Vancouver Canucks on July 10, 2008. During his entire career playing in the NHL, he played in 847 games, 304 goals, 464 assists for 768 points. On July 15, 2010, he joined the Kontinental Hockey League's Lokomotiv Yaroslavl.

Pavol Demitra was born on November 29, 1974 in Dubnica nad Váhom, Czechoslovakia. While on its way to Minsk, Belarus, he and the rest of the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl hockey team died in the plane crash on September 7, 2011. He survived by his wife, Maja and three children.
