Patrick Sharp started playing hockey when he was given the chance to join the Thunder Bay program and United States Hockey League’s Thunder Bay Flyers. Upon entering college, he was given an opportunity to represent University of Vermont’s Catamounts for two years.

After completing his stint with the Catamounts, he was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers during the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. Sharp spent time with the team and also for their AHL affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms.

During the 2004-2005 NHL lockout, he stayed with the Phantoms and finished 23 goals, 29 assists in 75 regular season games. Sharp’ stint with the team halted when he was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks midway through the 2005-2006 season.

In 2008, along with Duncan Keith, he was named as alternate captain for the Blackhawks. Sharp received the 2011 NHL All-Star Game MVP award.

Patrick Sharp was born on December 27, 1981 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. In 2010, he married his longtime girlfriend, Abby. A year later, they welcomed their first child, Madelyn Grace. The couple has two daughters.
