Pernell Karl Subban was born on May 13, 1989 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He debuted into the National Hockey League in 2007 after he was selected by the Montreal as a second round pick (43rd overall) in the NHL Draft. Subban started his international career with Team Canada, competing at the 2008 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships held in Czech Republic. After playing for the Ontario Hockey League in 2009, he spent a year with the American Hockey League. On January 2013, he was signed by the Montreal Canadiens to a two -year, $5.75 million contract.
Subban was selected into the NHL First All-Star Team in July 2013.
