He was selected as the second overall pick by the Oshawa Generals in the 2001 OHL Draft. Horton ended his final season for the team with 33 goals, with 35 assists in 54 games. He was chosen by the Florida Panthers in the NHL Entry Draft in 2003. After playing with the team for seven seasons, he was traded to the Boston Bruins in 2010.
