Marian Gaborik started his career when he joined the Dukla Trecin's junior team during the 1997-1998 season. While with the team, he scored 59 points and appeared in 36 games. His hockey skills significant improved when he played full time for the Trecin.

In 2000, he was drafted by the Minnesota Wild as the third overall pick during the NHL Entry Draft. During the 2003 NHL All-Star Game, he won in the fastest skater competition.

Gaborik left the team after eight seasons and transferred to the New York Rangers. While with the Rangers, he received the MVP award during the NHL All-Star Game in Ottawa.

He was traded to the Columbia Blue Jackets in 2013. After his brief stint with the team, Gaborik moved to Los Angeles Kings on March 2014.
