Kari Lehtonen is a professional ice hockey player who currently plays for the National Hockey League's Dallas Stars as the team's goaltender.

Kari Lehtonen was selected second overall at the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Atlanta Thrashers. In addition to being the highest-drafted European goaltender, Lehtonen is also the highest-drafted Finnish player ever.

Lehtonen played for the Thrashers until the 2007-2008 season. On February 9, 2010, he was traded to the Dallas Stars in exchange for a future fourth round pick and  Ivan Vishnevskiy. Before the 2010–11 season even started, Dallas Stars signed him to a three-year, $10.65 million contract. On September 2012, he was signed by the team to a five-year, US$29.5 million contract.
