Jonathan Toews began playing ice hockey when he was chosen by the Tri-City Americans during the 2003 WHL Bantam Draft. When he studied at University of North Dakota, he joined the university's hockey team where he played with for two seasons.
He opted out his final two years of college hockey eligibility and was selected third overall by the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. In 2008, Toews became the team captain for the Blackhawks.
Toews' fantastic performance during the 2010 Stanley Cup which the team received its first title. He continued to dominate the team in clinching its second Stanley Cup in 2013.
