Brian Leetch's love for hockey began when he was a kid. In high school, he joined the Cheshire High School hockey team. He played for two seasons for Avon Old Farms School hockey team, then he was selected as the first round, 9th overall pick by the New York Rangers during the 1986 NHL Draft.
He joined the Boston College Eagles men's hockey team and played for one season. Leetch participated at the 1988 Games in Calgary and debuted eight days later with Rangers. He served as Captain from 1997 to 2000. Also, he earned recognition as awardee for 1989 Calder Memorial Trophy, 1994 Conn Smythe Trophy, and James Norris Memorial Trophy in 1992 and 1997.
