Brent Burns spent his minor hockey career playing for the Ontario Minor Hockey Association's Barrie Iceman and Ajax Knights. He also played for the Greater Toronto Hockey League's North York Canadiens. Then, he was a right winger for Ontario Hockey League's Brampton Battalion.
He entered the 2003 NHL Entry Draft and was selected as the first round, 20th overall pick by the Minnesota Wild. During his stint with the team, Burns missed two seasons and suffered concussion. In 2011, he was traded to the San Jose Sharks.
