Faldo is Britain's best-ever golfer who eventually spent his time commentating for CBS and the Golf Channel, running his successful Faldo Series in 25 countries and designing new golf courses. The former carpet fitter from Welwyn Garden City won The Open and The Masters three times each and was world No1 for 98 weeks. Although he hardly plays now, Faldo is still heavily involved in golf through Faldo Enterprises, which has designed more than 50 golf courses worldwide at about £1m a time. He has sponsorship deals with the likes of Audemars Piguet, Marriott, and TaylorMade. His CBS contract is said to be worth £7m a year. He is also involved in a new venture called the Experts Network to provide sports analysis on digital and social programming. There are no figures for Faldo Enterprises but his main company Nick Faldo (International) showed nearly £1.149m net assets in 2010. His burgeoning business empire and properties would normally take Faldo to about £54m but he has had three divorces that have cost him about £20m. He was knighted in 2009.
