He made his debut playing f0r the Swedish football Division 4 team Torsby IF at the age of 16. Eriksson switched clubs to SK Sifhälla. While working as a physical education teacher in Örebro, he joined the Swedish football Division 2 team, KB Karlskoga FF in 1972.
