About Al Davis
Al Davis is an American football executive which has an estimated net worth of $500 million.
Al Davis began his career when he worked as one of the coaching staff while inducted in the Army in 1950. After discharged from the Army, he took a job as a freelance scout for NFL’s Baltimore Colts.
In 1955, he was hired by The Citadel as an assistant to head coach John Sauer. He became an assistant coach for University of Southern California. With his successful stint at USC, Davis was hired by Los Angeles Rams as one of the backup coach.
With his extensive experience in the football scene, he was the offensive coach for Los Angeles/San Diego Chargers between 1960 to 1962. After the 1962 season, he was eventually hired as a head coach and general manager for the said team.
In 1966, he became the AFL Commissioner until 1970 wherein he was against the merger of AFL and NFL. And eventually became the owner of Los Angeles/Oakland Raiders.
He owned 67% of the Raiders and with his leadership, it was one of the most successful teams in professional sports.
