Born on November 2, 1944 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S., Michael Buffer is the half brother of Bruce Buffer, the official ring announcer of UFC. He is best recognized for his powerful voice and his trademark catchphrase, "Let's Get Ready to Rumble!" which started in 1984.

Prior to becoming a professional ring announcer, Buffer had several jobs which include being a car salesman. At age 32, he pursued a modeling career and at 38, he became an official ring announcer. His career as a ring announcer actually started in 1982. In 1983, he began as an announcer for Bob Arum's Top Rank promotions on ESPN. Later on, he became an official ring announcer for the main events of World Championship Wrestling (WCW) which featured world renowned professional wrestlers like Hulk Hogan. Aside from wrestling and boxing, Michael Buffer has also announced for some world renowned sports events like the World Series, NFL Playoff Games, Stanley Cup Finals, and NBA Championships.
