He was able to sustain a 26-winning match before he lost to Kendall Holt via eight round technical knockout. His last boxing match took place in 2011 against Henry Lundy of the U.S.A. where he once again lost. Throughout his entire professional boxing career, David Diaz had a bout with renowned boxers like Humberto Soto, Robert Frankel, Erik Morales, Jesus Chavez, and of course, Manny Pacquiao.
