Bethany Meilani Hamilton was born on February 8, 1990 in Lihue, Hawaii, United States. Since April 2013, she has been engaged to Adam Dirks whom she met through a common friend. She was just 14 years old when she surfed along Tunnels Beach, Kauai. It was 7:30 in the morning when she was attacked by a tiger shark.
