American baseball player Jonathan Papelbon currently plays pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies of the MLB. In 2012, he received an annual salary of $11 million. Prior to his time with the Phillies, Papelbon played for the Boston Red Sox. To date, he has been selected as an All Star five times (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2012).

Jonathan Robert Papelbon was born on November 23, 1980 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After graduating from Bishop Kenny High School, he attended Mississippi State University where he played for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. He played for the Minor League from 2003 through 2005.

In 2003, he was selected by the Oakland Athletics as a fourth round pick in the Major League Baseball Draft. However, he only debuted into the league in 2005 with the Boston Red Sox in a match against the Minnesota Twins. In 2007, he was a part of the team which the World Series. In 2009, he was signed by the Boston Red Sox to a one-year, $6.25 million deal. He played for the MLB team until 2011. In November 2011, Papelbon reportedly signed a four-year $50 million deal with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Currently based in Mississippi, Papelbon is married to Ashley Jeffer, with whom he has a daughter named Parker, and a son, Gunner.
