American professional baseball pitcher John Lackey has an estimated net worth of $60 million. Born John Derran Lackey on October 23, 1978 in Abilene, Texas, he played at Dixie Little League in Abilene. He attended Abilene High School and played for the Eagles. He was a letter man in football, basketball, and baseball. He was a two-time first team All-District honoree in baseball. As a senior, he was also an All-State selection. He played one season of baseball at the University of Texas in Arlington. He also played on the Junior College World Series champion Grayson County College in 1999.
Lackey was drafted in the second round (68th overall) by the Anaheim Angels in the 1999 Major League Baseball (MLB) draft. His first MLB appearance as a pitcher was with the Los Angeles Angels that resulted to a loss against the Texas Ranges in June 24, 2002. However, he had won one of the biggest games of his career on October 27, 2002. He allowed only one earned run on four hits while striking out four in five innings to seal their World Series title. On December 16, 2009, he signed a five-year contract that was worth $82.5 million with the Boston Red Sox.
