Jhonny Peralta joined the Dominican Summer League in 1999 as a free agent for Cleveland Indians. He played for several teams such as Columbus RedStixx, Kinston Indians, Double-A Akron Aeros and Buffalo Bisons. While with the Bisons, he won numerous accolades such as International League's Most Valuable Player Award, Lou Boudreau Award, and Indians' 2004 Minor League Player of the Year.

He debuted to the Cleveland Indians in 2003. Peralta spent seven seasons with the team, but in 2010, he was traded off to the Detroit Tigers. During the ten playoff games in 2013, he batted .333 with four doubles, 1 home run, and six runs batted in. After his stint with the Tigers, he signed a contract with the St. Louis Cardinals.
