Jarrod Saltalamacchia joined the Royal Palm Beach High School's baseball team. In 2003, he was selected by the Atlanta Braves as the first round, 36th overall pick during the Major League Baseball Draft. In 2007 season, he appeared in 47 games, batted .284 with 4 home runs and 12 RBI.

He was traded to Texas Rangers and changed his jersey number from 18 to 25. During Saltalamacchia's stint with the team, he suffered from shoulder injury in 2009 and placed him on the disabled list. Another trade transaction happened once again, this time for the Boston Red Sox.
