Honus Wagner is an American baseball player.

Honus Wagner's baseball career started when his brother, Albert at that time playing for Inter-State league team is in need of his brother's help.

During his first year as a professional baseball player, he joined five different teams. But when Atlantic League's Ed Barrow saw Wagner's performance and signed him to play for the said league.

He went to play for the Louisville Coronels from 1897 to 1899. Wagner was one of the best hitters for the National League. But when the league decreased its team from 12 to 8, Coronels was one of those teams who were eliminated. He moved to Pittsburgh Pirates and played for the team from 1900-1917.

After his retirement, he served as Pirates' coach from 1933 up to 1951 and as a manager for the team in 1917.

Johannes Peter Wagner was born on February 24, 1874 in Chartiers, Pennsylvania. He married Bessie Baine Smith in 1916 and had three daughters. He died on December 6, 1955 in Pittburgh, Pennsylvania.
