Retired British athlete and businessman, Alan Pascoe has a net worth of $30 million as of May 2012, according to the Sunday Times UK Rich List. One of England's great athletes, Pascoe was part of the British team who won silver in the 400m relay at the 1972 Munich Olympics. He also won a gold medal in the 400m hurdles at the Commonwealth Games in 1974. Pascoe eventually hung up his spikes in 1978. Having worked as a teacher, he later supported his athletics through membership of sports quangos. This led into sports marketing, and a fortune for the runner. In 1975 he joined MSW Promotions, which he bought out and renamed Alan Pascoe Associates in 1984. The group, later to become API, grew rapidly, with Pascoe earning about £25 million when the company was sold in two tranches. He then was involved in Fast Track, a company set up to increase sponsorship in British athletics which was taken over in 2007 in a £43 million deal. Today Pascoe is a leading shareholder in Chime, the PR, advertising and communications group, with a £2.1 million stake. Pascoe has been heavily involved in the London Olympics, both in the bidding process and the preparation of the Games.
