The 69th Emmy Awards kicked off this past Sunday night, but not without an embarrassing blunder that occurred before the show even started.

The mix-up happened on social media, where most facepalm-worthy moments reside, as the official Twitter account for the Television Academy went about their usual yearly event where they live-tweet about the happenings at the Emmys. One tweet featured congratulations for RuPaul, host and creator of RuPaul’s Drag Race, who was awarded a nomination for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program.

That might seem all fine and dandy, but the problem is that the TV Academy included an image to go along with their tweet, but it wasn't a photo of RuPaul. Instead, they attached a picture of musical director Rickey Minor, who is renowned for having worked with A-list celebrity singers such as Beyoncé and Alicia Keys.

The tweet read, “Shante, you stay, @RuPaul! #RuPaulsDragRace is nominated for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program this year. #Emmys” Television Academy’s social media manager quickly realized their mistake and hastily took down the tweet and shared an image of the real RuPaul, but not before Buzzfeed snagged a screengrab.

Twitter users also were quick to slander the Television Academy for their embarrassing hiccup, even after the tweet was removed and corrected. Many users were unsure how the mistake happened, considering RuPaul and Rickey Minor share very few similarities in facial features, on top of the fact that RuPaul is significantly taller than Minor.

This unfortunate error by the Television Academy certainly did not phase RuPaul, however. RuPaul, known as being the world’s first mainstream drag queen, brought home a staggering three Emmys on Sunday night for RuPaul’s Drag Race.

RuPaul’s Drag Race has been on television for nine seasons now, making the show certainly worthy of an Emmy win. RuPaul took home Emmys for costuming and editing, along with “Outstanding Host of a Variety, Nonfiction Or Reality Program.” This was RuPaul’s second Emmy win for Outstanding Host.

RuPaul sat down with Salon before the ninth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race to discuss the meaning of drag, saying, “Drag is a physical embodiment to say, ‘Remember, this is all a dream.’ It’s an illusion. Don’t take anything too seriously. Don’t do anything too harsh to hurt yourself, it’s an experience.”
