Plus-Size Model Blasts Photo Editing App For Slimming Her Down

Photo Editing App Blasted By Plus Sized Model For Slimming Her Down

A plus-size model blasted a photo editing phone app that used her likeness without her permission and slimmed her down doing it.

Tabria Majors is a model from Nashville Tennessee, and like all models, she is very proud of her body. Also like all models, she’s naturally protective of her image. That’s her money maker, after all.

So when an app started advertising on Instagram using her photos she was understandably upset.

"First of all @bodycamera2017 if you’re going to use my image to sell your product, run me my coin!” Wrote Majors in her Instagram post blasting the app.

At the beginning of December, an app called Body Camera began running ads on Instagram that used Majors’ pics. The app actually takes pictures and then software edits them in a number of ways, such as making them thinner of fatter in the hips and chest.

Body Camera describes itself as an "amazing camera especially for women,” although given the way it seems to alter parts of their anatomy it seems questionable that women are the app’s target audience.

“Second of all, this is flat out disrespectful,” Majors adds. “I can understand minor touch-ups, but apps like these where you can photoshop your body into oblivion are a huge contributing factor to people having self-esteem issues.”

Self-esteem issues are not something that Majors has. In fact, one of her earlier Instagram posts runs a side-by-side comparison of herself 50 pounds lighter - the exact opposite of how Body Camera used her photographs.

But don’t think that just because Majors is heavier now makes her unhealthy. This girl is fit with a capital F. She even has abs.

Majors ends her post with a message for everyone on accepting their bodies. “Please remember that you are beautiful just the way you are and you don’t need an app to tell you that!"
