Starbucks has yet again caused an epic amount of controversy over their "holiday" cup design.
The new design, which was revealed this past Tuesday, is a green cup with a white circle at the center and features a mosaic containing more than a hundred people drawn in a single continuous stroke or line.
Starbucks stated the cups are NOT their holiday cups, but were created to “celebrate community.” In a press release, Starbucks CEO and Chairman Howard Schultz stated:
“During a divisive time in our country, Starbucks wanted to create a symbol of unity as a reminder of our shared values, and the need to be good to each other.”
This, however, didn’t stop people from getting insanely offended because they just assumed these new cups were the holiday cups.
I am against the Starbucks green cups. I want red ones. Always red ones.— G 🍑 (@grgctts) November 2, 2016
Screw you. My coffee should NOT (and does NOT) come with political brainwashing. I dropped @Starbucks like a hot rock.— Anna’s Poll (@RadioAnna) November 1, 2016
Some people aren’t offended, they just think the cups are ugly as sin.
These green Starbucks cups w/ the artwork on them are so fucking ugly.— XmasYaoiFanBoy ♔ (@YaoiCrazy) November 2, 2016
I would be fine with the new green Starbucks cups if they didn't have creepy faces on them. BRING BACK THE RED CONTROVERSIAL CUPS!— Destinee (@dvictoria9) November 2, 2016
Thankfully, there are people who are actually supportive of the cups:
@Starbucks I love the green cups! Great message! If only the rest of the country would wake up!— Lacy Cooper (@lacybrooke28) November 2, 2016
Because who cares what container it comes in? Coffee is fuel and you’re going to throw away the cup anyhow.
