Paris Hilton Says She Could Have Been Like Princess Diana

Paris Hilton opened up about her infamous tape and how it impacted her life's trajectory saying she wanted to be more akin to Princess Diana.

Reality star and hotel heiress Paris Hilton said that she could have become like her idol Princess Diana if her 2003 sex tape didn’t surface. Hilton admitted that she was left humiliated after her ex-boyfriend, Rick Salomon released their sex tape online.

In her interview with Marie Claire, Hilton said that it was hurtful that she couldn’t become like Princess Diana and symbolize her elegance and true spirit because of what Salomon did. He took everything away from her. Hilton was always judged by media on the basis of the intimate moments she had with her ex.

The 36-year old DJ said that meeting Salomon is her biggest and the only regret of her life. After the sex tape was made public, the couple broke up. It disturbed her so much that she locked herself in her house and was suffering from depression for several months. Hilton always felt like she needed a boyfriend to be there by her side.

"It's really hurtful, because my whole life I really looked up to Princess Diana, all these elegant, amazing women, and I feel like [Salomon] just took that all away from me," says Hilton in her interview. "I could have been like that, but because of that tape, I will always be judged and thought of as whatever they say about me because of a private moment between my boyfriend and me."

After being tracked by world media for almost all her life, Hilton became used to the paparazzi. She feels it’s kind of funny that when people meet her, they think she is a better person than who she is shown on television. Hilton wants people to know that she is down to earth and works hard every day to become a successful business woman.

Hilton was only 18 when she met Salomon, who was 33 at that time. Salomon reportedly earned $10 million from the sex tape.

Ever since the incident, Hilton has moved on and is currently dating actor Chris Zylka. Salomon, on the other hand, has had a couple of divorces. In 2002, he married actress Shannen Doherty, but the couple was divorced nine months later. Pamela Anderson and Salomon were married for a year from 2014-15.

The famous DJ has made a name for herself in the world by building a multi-brand empire of 18 various lines, including handbags, perfumes, and footwear. Hilton no longer takes part in reality shows and is living her passion of becoming a DJ. She writes and produces her own music.
