In a new report, Oprah Winfrey said she doesn’t think she has the “DNA” to be President.
Speaking in an interview before her now famous Golden Globes acceptance speech, media mogul Oprah Winfrey told InStyle editor-in-chief Laura Brown that she has no desire to seek the presidency.
“I’ve always felt very secure and confident with myself in knowing what I could do and what I could not,” Oprah said during the interview. “And so it’s not something that interests me. I don’t have the DNA for it.
“That’s not for me.”

Oprah’s stirring speech during her acceptance of the Cecil B. DeMille Award led many to believe the former talk show host was practicing for a possible foray into politics. However, InStyle’s March cover story says that’s not the case.
This isn’t the first time Oprah has turned down running for President. On a January 2017 episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Show, the audience cheered at the prospect of an Oprah presidency. Oprah responded with the word “never,” although she smiled while she said it.

Although Oprah continues to refute any presidential ambitions, those closest to her are trying to convince her to run. According to the Los Angeles Times, longtime partner Stedman Graham said "She would absolutely do it," and that "It's up to the people."
CNN offered a similar statement from two of Oprah’s friends, saying the Queen of All Media is “actively thinking about” running.
During the InStyle interview, Oprah revealed the even her best friend, CBS’ Gayle King, believes that it would be good for the country if she were to run - although she admitted it would go against Oprah’s grain.
“Gayle ― who knows me as well as I know myself practically ― has been calling me regularly and texting me things, like a woman in the airport saying, ‘When’s Oprah going to run?’” Oprah said. “So Gayle sends me these things, and then she’ll go, ‘I know, I know, I know! It wouldn’t be good for you ― it would be good for everyone else.’”
Oprah still hasn’t offered an official statement one way or another, although CNN reports that if an election were to be held today she would easily defeat current US President Donald Trump.
