Oprah Interviews Huge Hollywood Names About Times Up

Oprah will interview several big Hollywood names from the Times Up movement in a segment set to air on Sunday.

Much beloved media mogul Oprah Winfrey is set to appear on CBS’ Sunday Morning to discuss the Times Up movement with many of the biggest names in Hollywood. The segment, set to air Sunday morning at 9 AM EST, will feature many of Hollywood’s most prominent women, including Reese Witherspoon, America Ferrera, Natalie Portman, Tracee Ellis Ross, Shonda Rhimes, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, and attorney Nina Shaw.

The panel will discuss a wide range of issues affecting women and how women are treated across the globe.

"There's moments that you have to evaluate whether silence is going to be your only option," says Witherspoon in the interview. "And certain times that was our only option. But now is not that time."

Oprah has recently joined CBS as a contributor. She’s not only set to appear on Sunday Morning but has also appeared twice on 60 Minutes, CBS’s in-depth news program.

“How do we as a society have a mature, nuanced conversation about how men and women should be relating to each other?” Oprah asked the panel of seven women. “Because there’s so many men and women now who are uncomfortable in their workplaces because of all that’s been uncovered and aren’t just really sure how to be.”

Natalie Portman offers her thoughts on the question. “We’re all humans. And I think it’s treating people as fellow humans and — and it’s not because you have a daughter that you respect a woman, it’s not because you have a wife or a sister, it’s because we’re human beings, whether we’re related to a man or not. We deserve the same respect.”

All the women present are contributors to the Times Up campaign, an organization dedicated to addressing systemic inequality and harassment in the workplace. The group has recently begun a legal defense fund to assist victims of harassment.

In the interview, each of the women opens up about their experiences with assault and discrimination in the entertainment industry, and how they hope the Times Up movement will change things, not just in entertainment but in all industries.

Ever since Oprah’s stirring Golden Globes acceptance speech people have also been encouraging the 63-year-old former talk show host to run for president. There’s still no word on her future intentions.
