Let’s face it: it’s hard to go through life without hating someone. You probably hate a few people, whether it’s your noisy neighbor, your crazy uncle, or that one guy who insists on teabagging your corpse in that online shooter you play. Man, f!@# that guy.

But America is an exceptional place, and that means there are some exceptional people that all Americans hate. These are the lowest of the lowest, the scum of the Earth, the very worst examples of human sin. Normally, what would follow is a list of politicians, since everyone universally hates politicians, but we prefer not to get political here on TheRichest. So instead, here are five examples of terrible people who aren’t directly involved in politics but we can all agree are still hated by literally everyone in America.

Trust us: these people prove you don’t have to be a politician to be a repulsive human being.

Martin Shkreli

Pharma Bro Martin Shkreli may have finally got his comeuppance, but that doesn’t stop him from being the most hated man in America. Just type the words into Google, and you’ll see this asshole’s incessantly smirking face.

Just in case you’ve forgotten, Shkreli became the most hated man in America after he bought a pharmaceutical company that created life-saving cancer medications and raised the prices by 5000 percent. It was the most egregious example of corporate greed since last night’s tax vote (sorry, I know we’re trying not to get political). People went bankrupt just trying to afford their meds so that this jerk could line his pockets.

What’s worse, he was also a total internet troll, buying Wu-Tang’s sole copy of Once Upon A Time In Shaolin, even though he’s not a hip-hop fan, just so he could say he had it. And he bragged about it online to everyone!

These facts alone should have landed Shkreli in jail, but what really did him in was the fact that he performed some illegal accounting to balance the books with his early investors. That landed him a fraud charge that stuck, and now Shkreli is going flat broke. It’s far better than he deserves.

Harvey Weinstein

Runner-up for the most hated man in America is, of course, Harvey Weinstein. Reviled for decades as one of the sleaziest kings of Hollywood filmmaking, things got even worse for the media mogul after the New York Times published an expose documenting his history of using the casting couch to sexually assault women. Accusations ranged from being merely creepy and masturbating in front of women (still assault, mind you) to outright assault.

So far, 80 women have accused Weinstein of some form of impropriety. Thirteen have accused the film producer of assault.

At first, the allegations were just a few people in the newspapers, but soon a Twitter campaign with the hashtag #metoo swept the world, bringing every woman forward with their own story of how this dirtbag affected them. Weinstein subsequently was fired from his company, tossed from every project he’d been involved with, and is now facing criminal charges in several countries.

Actress Uma Thurman perhaps said it best: “I’m glad it’s going slowly - you don’t deserve a bullet.”

Bill Cosby

Bill Cosby has been accused of assaulting and raping women even longer than Weinstein has. So far, 59 women have come forward to accuse the aging comedian of sexual assault or rape, often by drugging the woman first without her knowledge. The accusations began as early as the 1960s and continued to 2008 - a span of criminal behavior lasting 52 years.

Unfortunately, many of the alleged rapes occurred too long ago to be brought to criminal proceedings. There was one trial, based on the events of a sexual assault in 2004, that ended in a mistrial after the jury became hopelessly deadlocked. Prior to that, civil proceedings against Cosby revealed that he would use Quaaludes, a powerful sedative, to drug his victims before assaulting them.

Cosby is now 80, and it may very well be that he’ll simply die before ever receiving justice.

Milo Yiannopoulos

It takes a lot to get fired from Breitbart news. Milo Yiannopoulos is a vocal supporter of white nationalism and Nazi ideology, is an anti-Semite, racist, sexist, homophobe (despite being gay himself), and believes that socialism and Islamists are a bigger threat to American than wealth inequality or corrupt government.

For Breitbart, those are all fine views to have. What finally got hit canned was a video that surfaced that had some highly questionable quotes from Yiannopoulos about his views on pedophilia. Speaking on a podcast, he wistfully recounted an encounter with a Catholic priest when he was a teenager, and said that sexual relations with a 13-year-old were acceptable.

“You’re misunderstanding what pedophilia means,” he told the hosts of a podcast. “Pedophilia is not a sexual attraction to somebody 13 years old who is sexually mature. Pedophilia is attraction to children who have not reached puberty.”

That was it for Yiannopoulos. All his speaking opportunities were dropped and was forced to resign from Breitbart soon after. Now, he’s just another self-loathing, angry gay man wondering why everybody hates him.

Roger Goodell

America loves football, but America hates Roger Goodell, the NFL Commissioner. Under his questionable leadership, the NFL has seen a drop in viewership of over 6 percent compared with this time last year. He’s attacked players for protesting racial injustice by kneeling for the national anthem, and he’s ignored player’s concerns about chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain condition that is caused by repeated blows to the head. Sort of like the blows one might receive if they played professional football twice a week.

Oh right, and that Thursday night football things? Disastrous. Games are less exciting because the extra game per week doesn’t give players enough time to recuperate.

All in all, Goodell seems to be out to protect the NFL owners, not the game or the players. If there’s one guy in sports who’s hated more than anyone else, it’s this guy.
