As more and more allegations of assault pile up on besieged Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey, a racy set of photos of the star and an unknown male model have reappeared after nearly two decades.
The photos were taken in March of 2000, the day before Spacey won his Best Actor award for his role in the 1999 movie American Beauty. They were originally published in a supermarket tabloid but were then buried as Spacey continued to insist he was entirely heterosexual.
Spacey recently come out as a gay man, however, these photographs showing him in a very intimate situation with a younger man both reveal house closeted the actor was as well as how he targeted younger men for his affections.
The photos begin with Spacey, then 41, and an unknown 21-year-old model purchasing tabloid magazines from a street vendor. Then the pair head toward Oakland Memorial Park in Topanga, California, near where Spacey grew up. The two climb a rocky cliff face for some privacy before sitting down next to each other.
That’s when things started to get steamy.
First, Spacey gets behind the young buck and gives him an apparent message. Then, he seems to help the guy with something on his pant leg as he leans over his torso. And finally, he lays his head in his lap for several shots before Spacey gets up and lies down on the rocks.
The shoot ends with Spacey and his young friend laying in each other's arms and pointing at the scenery.
While we don’t know the identity of the young man, he was said to be an aspiring actor and in his early twenties. His description matches those of the men that have accused Spacey of sexual assault in recent weeks.
As news of the allegations broke Spacey was fired from the Netflix original show House of Cards last Friday.
“Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement. “We will continue to work with MRC during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show. We have also decided we will not be moving forward with the release of the film Gore, which was in post-production, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey."
Spacey released his own statement saying he is "taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment." He has checked himself into The Meadows facility in Arizona, which is the same place Harvey Weinstein went for treatment following allegations of sexual assault.
