Veep actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus revealed that she was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She decided to share the news with her fans on social media, via a photo of a written note.

“1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I’m the one. The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring friends, and fantastic insurance through my union. The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality.” She captioned the post with the simple phrase “Just when you thought.”

Although the actress did not provide any further details regarding her diagnosis, her rep soon after released an official statement. However, that statement did not share any new information either. In fact, it was just a simple way for her to thank her fans for their love and support.

“Julia is incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support and well wishes.” her rep released to People magazine.

This news comes a little over a week after the hilarious actress won her 8th Emmy Award. She made history this year having won the Emmy in the Outstanding Lead Actress category for 6 straight years in a row for her role on Veep. Louis-Dreyfus also has an Emmy in the Lead Actress category for the comedy The New Adventures of Old Christine, as well as a win in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category for her role on Seinfeld.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The actress certainly has a battle on her hands, but she is receiving all sorts of love and support from the Hollywood community. Soon after she posted the news on Twitter, her fellow celebrities were quick to show their support. Christina Appelgate, a fellow breast cancer survivor, tweeted at her saying “Mama find me. Let’s talk if you want.” Other stars like Rosie O'Donnell, Adam Best, Mat Gad, and her Veep co-star Tony Hale sent outpouring love to the actress, as well as praised her that despite her condition she is still thinking of others first.
