Following the death of the legendary Playboy founder, Hugh Hefner, this past Wednesday, many not-so-sympathetic Twitter trolls' first thought was how happy Hefner's widow Crystal Harris must be. But how much money will she actually inherit from Hugh?
It is very easy to judge a relationship with such an age gap. After all, Hugh Hefner was 86 and Crystal Harris was only 26 when they got married back in Dec. 2012. It can be assumed that Crystal was only in it for the money, and the assumption was further justified when Crystal attempted to call off the wedding merely five days before the ceremony was set to be held, earning her the nickname "The Runaway Bride."
Hugh Hefner's son Cooper made a statement following his father's death that said, "He will be greatly missed by many, including his wife Crystal, my sister Christie and my brothers David and Marston, and all of us at Playboy Enterprises."
Many Twitter users could not sympathize with Crystal, stating that she must be jumping for joy at the thought of all the money that she's soon to inherit.
One Twitter user wrote, “It’s safe to say that Crystal Harris and her bank manager are the two happiest people on the planet at this moment in time."
However, it seems Crystal might not have been married to Hefner solely for the money after all, as Us Weekly reported in 2013 that Harris had signed a prenup which stated that all of his money would be inherited solely by his children, along with the University of Southern California film school and a few charities. Crystal was reported to not receive any inheritance following Hefner's passing.
This was not entirely true, though. Since Crystal Harris and Hugh Hefner never divorced, Crystal will be able to take over one of their houses. The mansion has a hefty price tag of multiple millions of dollars, TMZ reports. The deed to the 5,900 square foot Hollywood Hills home is held in the playmate's name, so it belongs solely to her. The mansion reportedly cost Hugh $7 million, and was purchased a year after their wedding.
The home is filled with lavish amenities, including four bedrooms, five bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows, and an infinity pool.
An unknown source close to Hugh Hefner also told TMZ that the Playboy founder also left Crystal an additional $5 million.
