A Puerto Rican sports brand, Life, has created a surfboard, Lift eFoil, that flies over water. Powered by an electric motor and controlled by Bluetooth, Lift eFoil reaches a speed of 25 miles per hour. The sports company recently released a video demonstrating how the surfboard works, and obviously, everyone went crazy. But before you get too excited, you should know that it costs $12,000.

The surfboard’s design is based on a hydrofoil and uses wing-like structures installed on either side to lift and provide stability. The electric motors help move the hover surfboard forward. Before making the product public, the company first designed a prototype that could ride for just 50 feet. But the Lift eFoil which is going to be available for sale can ride the waves for around an hour.

The board and foil are built from lightweight carbon fiber, kevlar (fiberglass), and stainless steel. Along with the engine, the surfboard weighs only 30 pounds. It only takes two and a half hour to charge the lithium battery pack. The board is controlled by two Bluetooth handheld devices and the surfer’s weight. On pressing the lever on the controller, the motor automatically adjusts the speed of the surfboard.

Since it’s easy to use, beginners can also use this surfboard. If you want to purchase the surfboard, you will have to pre-order it for $12,000. The first shipments of the surfboard will start in September and continue until winter starts.

Nick Leason, co-founder and head engineer of the company, said that he and his partners had been obsessed with developing user-friendly hydrofoils for everyone. Leason said that it is difficult to harness the power of the waves and surf, although it is gratifying. It takes years to master the act of surfing. So to make the experience fun and memorable, Leason set out to make it easy.

Leason said that they had to convince masterminds in their respective fields to help them build the flying board and it was very difficult, but they excelled.

The Life eFoil surfboard has surely got surfing enthusiasts happy. Who else can’t wait to experience this once in a lifetime opportunity?
