Beth Chapman, known for her appearances in the reality television show Dog the Bounty Hunter, revealed that she had been diagnosed with stage two throat cancer. However, any fan of Dog the Bounty Hunter knows that Beth is one strong woman, and she surely doesn’t plan to go down without a fierce fight.
The reality TV star decided to receive a check-up from her doctor due to a “nagging cough.” Radar Online obtained a letter written by Beth, which stated, “As most of you know I’ve spent a lifetime facing tests and challenges I didn’t see coming and certainly never expected. I’ve been dealt my share of unexpected blows over the course of my almost fifty years but nothing as serious as the one I heard from my doctors two weeks ago when they uttered those dreaded three words, ‘You have cancer.'”
Chapman details her cancer, stating that she has a T2 tumor lodged in her throat, which has been impacting her breathing. In order to make sure the cancer does not further grow and/or spread to other parts of her body, doctors urged Chapman to allow them to conduct immediate surgery and treatment.
“To be certain, I’ve stared down the devil more than once in my life but I’ve never faced a real life or death decision. My life has never been easy, and I surely don’t expect it to start now,” she continued in her letter. “Still, I’ve never been a victim and I won’t let cancer beat me. I realize the road I am about to travel will be rocky, full of unexpected twists and turns. But I know one thing for sure. A bend in the road is not the end of the road.”
Beth Chapman and her husband, Duane “Dog” Chapman, rose to fame thanks to the A&E reality series, Dog the Bounty Hunter, which was on air for eight seasons. The show followed Dog and his family as they tried to catch and arrest criminals for a profit. The show’s final season aired in 2015, but over the course of the years the show was on air, Dog and Beth grew a massive fan base that genuinely cared about their lives.
Beth wanted to make sure to give an encouraging word to her loyal fans before heading into surgery, as she said, “I will fight every step of the way. My husband and children are counting on me to be there for years to come. I am so very grateful to be surrounded by family and friends who have given me incredible support during this very challenging time.”
