Why Celebs Harassed By Harvey Weinstein Won’t Pay Legal Fees

Via Fox News

Big celebs that decide to take Harvey Weinstein to court on sexual assault charges could be in for a big payday, and best of all, they won’t be out the cost of legal fees.

The biggest of celebrities often get back their legal fees as part of the damages awarded by the court, but they have enough money they can foot the cost of litigation even without it. Now it seems actresses that have been harmed by Weinstein’s actions won’t even have to pay for a lawyer since legal financing companies are stepping in to foot the bill.

Two legal financing businesses think that any suit against Weinstein will be a slam dunk case and are willing to represent women pro-bono since they believe the payoff will be huge.

The chief executive for Legal-Bay says he thinks that many women could get at least $50,000.00 for bringing charges against Weinstein and The Weinstein Company, but some could be in store for even bigger payoffs—seven figures large, even. The company is especially looking for actresses that could make a case that their careers were blocked by Weinstein as then they could claim lost potential wages.

Another company called Legalist is offering as much as $100,000.00 toward litigation costs. A company rep says that they are advertising their services on social media since the scandal is big enough they don’t think they’ll have to chase down clients. The rep also believes that most potential clients will actually be former employees with TWC and not successful actresses since famous celebs will be able to sue on their own.

Legalist has certainly won many high profile cases of sexual assault, with some verdicts awarding millions of dollars to the victim. It just goes to show that justice is as much big business as anything else in Tinseltown.

As legal sharks begin to circle around Weinstein, he remains defiant in the face of adversity, vowing to continue working in the movie business once the scandal has blown over. This, of course, assumes that the scandal doesn’t leave him penniless on the streets first.
