Celebrities entering rehab is unfortunate news that happens all the time, though some keep it on the down low. A very well crafted statement by a publicist is generally released and the celebrity stays out of sight for a month or two.

However, there are times that a celebrity enters rehab and does not release the information until after their stint. In fact, sometimes stars don’t share their rehab story until months or years later. After all, whatever addiction the celebrity is seeking help for is private, so it is completely up to the person if they want to share the news or not. Check out these seven celebrities that you didn’t know went to rehab.

Aaron Carter

Aaron Carter has been to rehab at least twice that is known to his fans. He first completed treatment at The Betty Ford Clinic in 2011. Although he did not talk about it until a few years later, all he would say is “I needed to get healthy.” The singer also went to rehab about two weeks ago, however, it is being reported that he left early. Carter has been plagued with personal problems over the years that often put him in the headlines more than his musical career.

Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck struggled with alcohol addiction for most of his adult life and he is not afraid to talk about it. Many didn’t know that the actor actually entered rehab for the first time at age 29. However, he would not talk about it until years later, when he shared that “he needed to get his head on straight” calling the time a “rite of passage.” This year, Affleck recently did another stint in rehab, releasing a statement that revealed that he knows that alcoholism is something he will continue to deal with forever. He has been seen out in LA with a sober coach since his release.

Keith Urban

Keith Urban credits his wife Nicole Kidman for getting and keeping him sober. Shortly after they got married, the country crooner checked himself into rehab for drug and alcohol abuse. It was about a year later that he opened up about his journey to getting sober and how Kidman played the most pivotal road to his recovery. Before meeting her, the Australian hunk was living the life of a successful on the road singer with groupies, drugs, and fame. Although he has stayed sober since 2006, Urban admits that it is a constant battle.

Samuel L. Jackson

Samuel L. Jackson is one of Hollywood’s most legendary and iconic actors. However, he is also a recovering drug and alcohol addict. The actor shares his career soared once he stopped acting while drunk and on drugs. 20-years ago, he checked himself quietly into rehab after his wife and daughter came home to find him passed out after cooking cocaine. It was right after his stint in rehab that he filmed his breakout role, as of all things a crack addict in Spike Lee’s Jungle Fever. Although Jackson kept quiet about his addiction for years, he now openly speaks out about being sober and staying sober.

Kristin Davis

Kristin Davis shocked fans when she revealed that she was a recovering alcoholic. Although she was not hiding it, the news did not become public until the HBO series Sex & The City ended. Davis has not shared a lot of details about her addiction, only revealing that she went through rehab before she became famous. The actress admits to occasionally wanting a drink but always reminds herself that the risk to her sobriety for one drink is not worth it.

Mary-Kate Olsen

Mary-Kate Olsen was sent to rehab shortly before her 18th birthday to receive treatment for an eating disorder. While at the time a rep for the actress released a statement regarding her decision to get help, Olsen has not ever publicly talked about her time in rehab or her disease. However, considering that she and twin sister Ashley lead a very private life and rarely give interviews, much less discuss personal issues, it is not surprising she has remained silent on her rehab stint.

Heather Locklear is no stranger to rehab. The blonde bombshell has been in rehab allegedly three times. She has struggled over the years with not only alcohol but also depression and anxiety. Locklear has sought out treatment for all three over the past 10-years. Earlier this year, reports surfaced that she was once again in rehab. However, for her part, the actress simply released a statement saying she was “working on herself” and “tying up loose ends” as she began 2017.
