Just days ago, the undisputed Princess of Pop wasted no time in celebrating her thirty-sixth birthday. At the stroke of midnight on Dec. 2, 2017, Britney Spears, who looked stunning in a backless black mini dress connected with a multi-strand silver chain and wore her blonde hair piled into a ballerina bun, stood in the entryway of her home and sang a lovely rendition of Elvis Presley's love ballad, "Can't Help Falling In Love" while someone (we're assuming her beau, Sam Asghari, 23) filmed the mini-live performance while walking in a circle around her, giving the video a 360 degree feel. The video was posted to the singer's Instagram and fans swooned at her strong raw vocals which prove that Spears can sing live, shutting down rumors that she only lip syncs at her Vegas show.
"I was really inspired yesterday by @madonna's post," Spears wrote in the caption. "She's right... silence = death! These words really stuck with me, because they are so true. I've always wanted to do a performance like this... singing in a pretty little black dress, with a simple 360, one take shot! I figured since it was my birthday, why not go for it?! So boom... When the clock struck 12:00, I did it!!! Thank you all for the beautiful birthday wishes, and for letting me do what I love. I appreciate you more than you will ever know!!!!"
US Weekly reported that Spears was referring to the cover of "Toxic" that Madonna sang and posted on Instagram for Worlds AIDS Day on Dec. 1, 2017. Madonna also included a birthday message for Spears on her post. Madonna and Britney made history when they famously kissed on stage along with Christina Aguilera at MTV's Video Music Awards in 2003.
Spears has enjoyed her Vegas residency, Britney: Piece of Me since Dec. 27, 2013. The residency with Planet Hollywood was supposed to last until 2015, but due to the show's whopping success, (it grossed over $121 million with 980,000 attendees as of February 2017) it has been extended until New Year's Eve 2017. Now that Spears' show is ending, she has a world of possibilities at her fingertips.
Will she want to take a long overdue break to spend quality time with her boyfriend, fitness trainer Sam Asghari and sons, Sean and Jayden? Maybe she will want to settle down again and add on to her family? Or will the notorious workaholic keep at it and get started on a new project? Only time will tell to see what is in the cards for Spears in 2018. She could drop another album, start a new tour or stay put in Sin City and start a new show with another mega hotel. Whatever the pop star has up her sleeve, it's safe to say that she will continue to dominate her title as the undisputed Princess of Pop and keep her fans wanting more.
