Maybe after today, the BBC will rethink this whole “open office” concept.

A BBC employee was spotted watching some risque material while on the job during a recent news broadcast. The video shows what appears to be a male worker casually slouched in his office chair while a woman takes off her top on his computer screen.

Watching porn at work is always a risky endeavor, but doing so on live TV is likely to get someone fired. Probably more than one person.

The video shown is from Tuesday night’s broadcast of The News At 10. Behind anchorwoman Sophie Raworth, as she describes the recent cricket victory of England over South Africa, the scene unfolds completely without her knowledge.

While the not safe for work video might raise a few eyebrows it’s likely to get that particular employee canned.

As pointed out by Mashable, it’s quite likely the footage shown was from a different show in an upcoming broadcast, and not actually a porno. Certain TV shows aired by the BBC do feature nudity, although usually after hours, and these shows need to be properly edited and reviewed before the air date.

That said, according to an anonymous TV source that spoke to The Sun, that employee is in for a difficult meeting in the very near future.

“This has gone down like a lead balloon at the BBC,” said the source. “It is totally unprofessional. It beggars belief a sex scene should be played live on air. The employee is on borrowed time when bosses catch up with him. You can’t get away with this sort of stuff anymore.”

Of course, this is hardly the first time that on-air photography picked up something that news broadcasters really wished it hadn’t. There’s always a risk to live broadcast, and many people see cameras rolling as their opportunity for their 15 minutes of fame.

It’s also not the first time a BBC employee has ended up in hot water for what managed to sneak into the show. Earlier this year a young BBC weatherman thought he could flip the bird to the news anchor while off camera, but then was brought on camera before he could put the bird back in its cage.
