A lot of people tend to pine for the "good old days" when it comes to the propriety of the human race, but frankly, people have always been weird - we just didn't have the internet to tell us how weird we really are.
Thankfully, photography has been around since at least the 1800s. There were mentions of Camera Obscura, and photography methods mentioned as far back as the Han dynasty but no actual evidence of a "camera."
When it became widely available to all of humanity, what do you think was the first thing that happened? If you guess take incredibly weird photos with the purpose of trolling future generations, you deserve that current feeling of satisfactory intelligence that's making your brain feel all warm and fuzzy right now.
Some of the photos documented the strange and bizarre because why would you waste precious film on anything normal?

These two pups...

And riding animals that don't look like they should be ridden:
Tortoise riding does look like fun though:
Elephants doing tricks was also a thing for some reason:
There's a time this was considered risque:
We're not even sure what's happening in this one:
People are weird, they've always been weird and by god they always will be.
